The Ultimate Guide to Manifesting Your Dream Career

Manifesting your dream job or career starts with knowing what you actually want, and what you don’t. Like all manifestations, clarity is key. Understanding what you don’t want helps you figure out what you do want.

Starting off in your early 20s can make this feel overwhelming. There’s so much life ahead of you, and people in that age range often feel pressured to have it all figured out right away.

I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s okay not to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Honestly, I don’t think anyone truly wants to do the same thing forever. From my own experience (and I’m only in my late 20s), my interests change every few years. So, the best course of action is to follow what feels right in the moment. Rely on your gut instinct. That’s what I do and it hasn’t failed me yet.

Know What You Want: The First Step to Manifesting Your Dream Career

If you’ve had jobs you’ve liked or disliked, use those experiences to help you create your dream career. Think about any kind of work situation you’ve been in or, if you’ve never worked, think about what you enjoy doing in your day-to-day life. What gives you drive, excitement, and passion?

From every experience, we gather information about what we like and what we don’t. Start piecing together the aspects of those experiences that you enjoyed and use them to build your dream career. And if there are things you didn’t like, note those too, they’ll help you steer clear of similar situations in the future.

Example:

Let’s say you worked at a company and loved your coworkers and the schedule, but didn’t enjoy the actual work you were doing. Appreciate what you liked, the team environment, the schedule, and what that schedule did for your life. Did it give you flexibility? Did it fit well with your other activities? It’s important to recognize how these aspects affect how you feel in your daily life because when manifesting, it’s all about the feeling.

Now, for the parts you didn’t like: was there another position in the company that appealed to you? Did you have a past role elsewhere that you preferred? Think about what you truly enjoy doing. Appreciate what others do and the roles they play. And if you can find even a little appreciation for your current position, it will only help your manifestations grow stronger.

Align Your Mindset With Your Dream Career

Once you know what you want, the next step is to align your mindset with your dream career. Start becoming the professional you want to be before you have the position.

I did this when I first got into real estate. I tried to imitate everything a successful Realtor did - how they talked, dressed, structured their day, and where they spent time. Anything that helped me feel like I already was that successful Realtor. It ultimately gave me the confidence I needed when meeting clients.

Think about what the life of a professional in your dream career looks like. How do they spend their days? How do they dress and carry themselves? Who do they surround themselves with? Begin implementing some of these qualities and habits now.

When your mindset and lifestyle align with your dream career, the universe begins to believe it’s already yours and therefore, it has no choice but to deliver it to you. Just make sure that the feeling you hold while manifesting aligns with your dream. If something feels off, it won’t work.

Another important step: don’t carry baggage from your previous job into your next one. This is where many people go wrong, they dislike their job, move on, and then find the same issues showing up again. That’s because your focus creates your experience. When you focus on negatives, negativity follows.

That’s why it’s so important to leave your current job on a good note. Don’t leave in the middle of an argument or right after being denied a promotion. Wait things out, appreciate what went well, and move forward peacefully. Check out my blog How to Shift Your Mindset Before Moving On for more info on this.

Manifesting Your Dream Career Through Visualization and Affirmations

Acting as-if: Basically what I mentioned in the last few paragraphs. Really just about aligning yourself with the actions a professional in your dream career.

Visualizing: Every morning I want you to meditate and visualize yourself in your dream career. Try to drum up as many positive feelings as you can. Visualize what you are doing everyday at work, who you are working with, how your boss treats you, the clients you have, etc. Sit quite in a room, close your eyes, and visualize.

Affirmations: One of my favorite ways to manifest. Writing a statement down over and over again in the present tense as if it has already happened. “I am grateful to be working with 10 clients right now.”

Journaling: Write a short story on what a day in your life looks like in your dream career. Focus on the senses, when we do this, we are able to more easily access the feeling of what it would be like in your dream career. You can re-read this story, say it out loud however much you want.

Be Open to Opportunities and Take Inspired Action

Manifestation is powerful for aligning your mindset with your desires, but it doesn’t replace action. You can’t just sit at home manifesting without taking steps toward your goal.

Be open to opportunities. Get out there, network, take chances. Manifesting gives you the confidence and alignment to take action but you still have to meet the universe halfway.

When you’re putting in the effort, staying open, and an opportunity crosses your path, it’s likely a result of the manifesting you’ve been doing - so take it! The only exception is if you get a strong gut feeling that it’s wrong for you. Nerves are normal; true misalignment feels different.

Doing these things - knowing what you want, aligning yourself, manifesting intentionally, and taking action - will bring you closer to your dream career. Trust the process, stay in tune with your intuition, and believe that what you desire is already on its way.
