The Reality of Mindset Work

I’ve been thinking lately, how is it that I am able to have such a positive mindset in many areas in my life, but in certain areas, I really struggle to embrace my positive mindset? For example, I can bring in a lot of abundance when it comes to relationships, wealth, opportunities, experiences, but when it comes to health, I often let the negative thoughts over run this area. And it’s odd because I am overall a pretty healthy person.

It really goes back to what has been programmed in my subconscious mind. Thoughts that I keep thinking that become beliefs. I lost both of my parents within the span of two years, both in their mid-late 50s, a relatively young age to pass away. So I realized over the years after their passing, I have become more afraid of death and become concerned for my health at the slightest sign of something being wrong.

This is the reality of the life long journey of mindset work, which is why it’s so important to be constantly working on your mindset and observing your thoughts and how you feel. No body is perfect, and situations happen in life that cause us to develop new patterns of thoughts, that turn into beliefs, that change us for better or worse. So if you are wondering, can you excel in manifesting in different parts of your life but in certain areas you feel like you just need more work? The answer is absolutely YES and you are not alone.

How to Improve Your Mindset

First, be grateful for the areas in your life that are going well for you. This gratitude allows for a more positive mindset, which is what you need to overcome those negative thought patterns in other areas of your life.

Second, put some logic behind why you might be having those negative thoughts in the first place, from this you can be rational about specific steps you can take moving forward to help this part of your life. In my situation, to be totally honest, my parents did not live the healthiest lifestyle, it’s truly nothing against them, growing up when they did they just simply didn’t have the knowledge we do now a days and life gets busy. So to be rational, I know I can live a healthy lifestyle and I’ll likely be okay. I’ve also investing in certain testing I can do to better improve the understanding of my own health.

There’s usually some excuse as to why we are who we are and it’s because this situation happened to us in our life. You get the picture. But we can change this story, we can chose different paths, improve ourselves, and change.

Third, overcome your negative beliefs by using affirmations or visualizations. We can use affirmations to rewire our brain. These negative thoughts we think really are unconscious thoughts. Most of the time we are not deliberately thinking negatively. To rewire the unconscious brain we have to commit to a practice, start with one negative thought, flip that thought to a more abundant, positive statement that is in the right direction to where you want your mindset to be. We then need to repeat this affirmation (statement) many times, everyday, for a month or longer. This allows your brain to make new neural connections and ultimately change that negative belief. I want to emphasize right direction because if we jump too far, it’s going to be very hard for our brain to accept this new statement, it will be hard to get the feeling, and the feeling is important.

From a personal example, I often get anxious about literally having something awfully wrong with my health, so I tried an affirmation “Every cell in my body is aligned with perfect health”. The word “perfect” was too off for me, it didn’t sit right because I was constantly thinking, well that’s not true, none of us are perfect. So lately, I’ve been saying “I trust my body to take care of me”. This feels more aligned with how I want my health mindset to be, I do trust my body and I truly do feel like it will take care of me. This is in the right direction to my ideal health mindset.

Lastly, you need to have some faith. Now I’m not saying you need to be apart of a religion, but having faith in something allows you to let go of those anxious, negative thoughts. Faith overcomes fear. I feel more spiritual, I do believe in God but wouldn’t say I align to any specific religion. If you do that’s perfectly fine too. Believing in a higher power has made me let go of certain worries and makes me feel like everything will be okay.

Mindset work is a life long journey, just like we need to exercise consistently, we need to work on our mindset consistently. Always observe your thoughts and how you feel, if they mainly align with positivity and good feelings, you’re on the right track!
