Manifestation for Affirmations: Rewire Your Mind for Your Desires
What are Affirmations?
Affirmations are one of my favorite manifestation techniques! Manifestation affirmations are statements you choose to repeat everyday, multiple times a day over a period of time (or forever!). When you have a negative belief or thought, you use affirmations to rewire your brain and turn that negative thought into something positive.
How Affirmations Rewire Your Brain
Repeating affirmations consistently helps your brain make new neural connections (rewiring) to overcome your negative belief system and align your thoughts to your goals and desires. Over time, this repetition rewires your brain to truly believe these statements as reality. Your subconscious mind doesn’t distinguish between what is real and imagined, which is why affirmations are such a powerful tool for manifesting your desires and improving your mindset.
For example, let’s say you grew up around people with a negative mindset about money. This could have shaped your own beliefs about it. To shift this perspective, try writing in your journal: “I am grateful for the money I have and the money that is flowing my way.” Write this statement 25 times daily for 30 days. It’s positive, relatable, and feels good to affirm.
How to Create Effective Affirmations
Goal or negative belief: Determine where you want to start first, either a negative belief you want to change or a goal you have. Often times you may realize that you have a negative belief that is related to your goal that’s holding you back. If that’s the case, start by rewiring that negative belief.
Present tense: Use present tense, speak as though your goal has already been achieved. For instance, “I am enjoying a thriving career that fulfills me and allows me to travel the world.”
Be specific: Focus on clear, tangible outcomes. However, if you are using affirmations for rewiring a negative belief, it may be best to start broader.
Believable: Your affirmations should feel achievable and aligned with where you are now. For instance, if you currently earn $40,000 a year, jumping straight to “I am earning $1,000,000 every year” might feel too far-fetched, making it harder for your subconscious to embrace. Instead, choose a statement that feels more realistic, like “I am steadily increasing my income and attracting abundant opportunities.” This bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be, ensuring your affirmations resonate and feel empowering.
Common Mistakes in Affirmations
The most common mistake I see when people use affirmations for manifesting is what I just mentioned right above, when the gap is too large between where you are and where you want to be. This ties into the second most common affirmation mistake, having a negative feeling when you write, think, or say your affirmations. These two mistakes often come together because if you are coming from a strong place of lack around money then it’s going to be very hard for your subconscious mind to accept that you are a millionaire. Which then creates a negative feeling when using your affirmation, therefore, your manifestation is going to take a very long time to come to fruition.
Instead, use affirmations that feel more realistic but still on the right path towards your desires. Once you start to feel better and better about that affirmation, you’re closing the gap and you can choose a new affirmation to align more with where you want to be. Focus on the feeling, if your affirmation feels too negative, switch it around. Only you will know what affirmations work best for you.
How to Believe in What You Are Saying
At first you may not believe in your affirmations, but you will realize if you keep repeating and don’t have a negative feeling, you will soon start to believe. To really believe in what you are saying, think of the people who have what you desire. If they can have it, so can you. See other people’s success as proof that your goals and desires are possible, do NOT view other people’s success from a point of envy.
